Fork in the Road Bistro - Great Food!
| Fork in the Road |
The last time my wife and I went to Fork in the Road, we went just for the Tapas and Happy Hour and had a few of the regular, on the menu, appetizers. And that was great! Now we were back for dinner. I had to have the Smoked Salmon Quesadilla again as an appetizer. It was fabulous! The tortilla was warm this time. The last time it was cool and I liked it, but the warm tortilla brought out the all the flavors, plus I got a little heat in the finish, which I really liked. So, I am going to be ordering this appetizer everytime I go to the Fork.
Next up were our entrees. My wife ordered the Salmon off the menu and I ordered the Lamb Special. Both, again, were fantastic! I am basically a simple person (hey, watch out I heard that!), so I usually don't like a whole lot of ingredients. My Lamb Sirloin Roast was accompanied by Cauliflower, pine nuts, apple, pears, currants in a brown butter sauce with toasted grape chutney. Whew! That's a mouthful and the mouthful was delicious! It was just so tasty and all working together and my lamb was perfectly cooked. My wife's selection, the Salmon Roast, had a horseradish marmalade glaze and was accompained by orzo, shitake, mandarin oranges, sweet potato pan roast and a creamy mustard sauce. Again, a mouthful, but everything working well together. Ummm, delicious!
Next up were the desserts. We ordered the Chocolate Mousse and the Creme Brulee. I make a mean mousse and creme brulee myself and I wanted to see how these stacked up. Again, fantastic! The mousse is flavored with caramel and the creme brulee was flavored with Gran Marnier, both a nice additional nuance to the dishes. The Creme Brulee was creamy and delicious with a crunchy hard top of caramelized sugar that I enjoyed cracking with my spoon! The Mousse was firm and velvety smooth and the piece of Orange Peel Confit was perfect with it.
Fork in the Road... a great place to eat!
